We now invite presentation proposals for the 2022 Critical Librarianship and Pedagogy Symposium, November 2-4, 2022. This online symposium brings together critical pedagogy discourse among academic librarians, critical pedagogy scholars, and teaching faculty.
Please submit your proposal by April 30. Presenters will be notified by the end of Spring. For inspiration, you can view past CLAPS presentations. You are welcome to submit more than one proposal. All proposals must include:
- Presenter name(s) and affiliation(s)
- Presentation title
- Presentation type (session, lightning talk, or pre-conference podcast)
- Presentation description (300 words or less). Please include the content and goals of your session; key points, skills, or examples the audience will take away from the session; and how you intend to engage with the audience (e.g., activities during presentation, Q & A at end of session).
- Audience level
- 2-3 keywords/tags that describe your presentation
- Explanation of how the presentation centers diverse perspectives and lived experiences; addresses diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility; or includes anti-racist approaches.
For any questions, please contact clapsconference@gmail.com.
Accessibility
All presentations will have live captions by default. For questions about accessibility, or to request any disability-related accommodations that will facilitate your full participation, please contact clapsconference@gmail.com.
Presentation types
This online conference will include keynote presentations as well as proposal-based sessions and lightning talks spread across three days. Sessions can be pre-recorded or presented live. For the first time, we are also offering the option to submit a talk to our pre-conference podcast.
We are accepting proposals for the following presentation types:
- Sessions (50 minutes). Includes presentations, panels, facilitated roundtables, or workshops.
- Lightning talk (10 minutes). Similar topics will be clustered.
- Preconference podcast (30 minutes). Audio only.
Audience level
This conference welcomes first-time attendees new to critical librarianship and pedagogy, those who have been actively engaging with critical librarianship theory and praxis, and everyone in between. Please consider the level of prior knowledge participants might need to have to get the most out of your session, lightning talk, or podcast.
- Beginner/101: for folks new to critical librarianship or exploring a new area within the field. No prior knowledge needed.
- Intermediate: audience should have a basic understanding of these and related topics.
- Advanced: a high level of knowledge or experience is recommended.
Keywords
In addition to your presentation description, keywords or tags will be used to help attendees search and sort through presentations online. Please add up to 3 keywords that will help identify your session, lightning talk, or podcast.
Diversity statement
We are prioritizing proposals that center diverse perspectives and lived experiences; address diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility; or include anti-racist approaches. Please include a note for the review committee describing how this applies to your proposal. Please know that this is a private communication point for the review committee and will not appear in the conference program.
